Regular Play - Every Wednesday 6:00 pm "Living Blakfyre" is an unofficial Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition ongoing campaign using Role-Playing Game Association (RPGA) guidelines. The "Living Blakfyre" campaign takes its name from the recently deceased "Living Greyhawk" and recently launched "Living Forgotten Realms" campaigns sponsored by the RPGA. If you'll be playing in RPGA games, you'll want to sign up for RPGA Player Rewards. (Click on "Sign Up" at the bottom of the page.) BE PREPARED Come to each play session with the following: Required - A copy of each book that applies to your character. You may share a book with someone else at the table, but you must coordinate this before you start play. This rule is intended to allow family & close friends to share books, and to be fair to players who brought their own books. - Up-to-date character sheet - A writing implement - A set of dice - Something to represent your character on the battlemat (preferably a miniature) - Something to represent any pets or summoned creatures your character may use Optional Character Creation Races - All PHB races are allowed. Monster Manual races (p. 276-279) are allowed with prior coordination with a Living Blakfyre DM. For example, there is a "monstrous humanoid" group, but don't expect to be able to have your gnoll be able to walk into just any group and fit in like everyone else no matter where you go. Also, using a non-PHB race takes up one RPGA Rewards card slot for your character (see the Character Creation Guide for more information on rewards cards). You must have the relevant rules with you to play the character. Classes - All PHB classes are allowed. Classes available through sourcebooks and Dragon or Dungeon Magazine articles are allowed with prior coordination with a Living Blakfyre DM. You must have the relevant rules with you to play the character. Character Backgrounds - Wizards has published optional character backgrounds in Dragon Magazine #366 and in the Forgotten Realms Players guide. Players may select a background if they meet certain requirements designed to enhance the game world, and if they have a copy of the applicable book or article handy while playing (See "Be Prepared" --> "Required" above). In order to take advantage of a character background, the player must write a character background story and email it to gary.taylor7@gmail.com for editing, approval and posting. The character background doesn't have to be a literary masterpiece, but it does have to be at least 500 words long (longer is fine) and be no worse than about a "PG" rating. Modifications - The most recent publication of a race or class is considered the "official" version and should be used whenever available. This applies to sourcebooks, Dragon magazine, Dungeon magazine, and the official D&D Insider Character Builder. If the rule isn't available at the table, don't expect it to be applied at the table. Download and print the Living Blakfyre Character Log to track your character's adventures and progress.
