Miniature Wargaming is a multi-faceted hobby. At its core, it involves dozens (or even hundreds!) of miniature figures pitted against each other in a battle. Typically two opponents play against each other, but more than two can play at a time either as allies or opponents, making for a very interesting game. Depending on the size of the forces, a battle can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Another aspect of the miniature wargaming hobby involves collecting and painting the figures. While some games provide figures pre-painted, a great many allow the players to assemble and paint their own miniatures, adding another dimension to the hobby that many find as gratifying as the battles. In fact, there are those who collect and paint miniatures without ever participating in a battle! At Blakfyre Games, we supply some of the most popular and fast-growing miniature wargames. Miniature wargaming is recommended for ages 12+, but children as young as 5 can have fun playing with the miniatures (using "their own rules"), especially the Wizards of the Coast miniatures that are ready to go out of the box. Children younger than five tend to eat miniatures, which is not good for the miniature or the child. (Just ask them. ;-) Seriously, Games Workshop is the big boy on the block when it comes to miniature wargaming. If you want to be a part of the largest wargaming phenomenon on the planet, Games Workshop is the way to go. They provide rich, detailed histories and settings for each of their armies, adding great depth and breadth to the stories that unfold through the tabletop battles. Miniatures are provided unassembled and unpainted, but never fear - we also carry Games Workshop paints and other supplies, including detailed instructions on how to make models like the pros!   Rackham - Confrontation (Note: Site is in French) - Rackham English Catalog - Rackham English Forums Rackham produces some of the most spectacularly detailed miniatures available. Available in standard 28mm scale, they are perfect accessories to include in other games, as well as being a popular miniature wargaming system in its own right. While the Rackham site is in French, they to produce English versions of their products, which we provide at Blakfyre Games.  Privateer Press - Warmachine Warmachine by Privateer Press is a relatively new addition to the miniature wargaming field, but is gaining ground fast. As stated on the Privateer Press website, "Warmachine is a fast-paced and aggressive 30mm tabletop miniatures battle game set in the steam-powered fantasy world of the Iron Kingdoms".  Wizards of the Coast - Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures - Star Wars Miniatures Wizards of the Coast miniatures are provided preassembled and prepainted. Most Wizards miniature lines have a starter set that contains several miniatures, rules of the game, and any other required accessories.
